Allahna Kaj has a fresh, integrative approach to individualized psychotherapy. She grounds her work in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which provides a framework for helping her clients understand and regulate their thoughts, emotions, behavior and reactions. Allahna also works with her client’s values and uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients accept difficult emotions and begin things that are out of our personal control and commit to steps that are in line with their values. She has seven years of experience as a Group Facilitator and Individual Therapist in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), an evidence-based skills and mindfulness-based approach for creating emotional regulation and insight. She has also been trained in Clinical Hypnosis which, for some, offers a fresh approach to developing healthy life and emotional patterns.

My mindfulness-based therapeutic practice integrates a body-centered approach with Buddhist psychological models. Bringing awareness to the present moment in each session supports the observation of thoughts and impulses in real time as they come up. We’ll collaborate as we gain a deeper and more subtle understanding and felt-sense of the unfolding patterns that appear. Cultivating a relationship based on trust and open communication is the foundation of my compassionate and direct method.
