More that fifteen years of teaching English and drama at a Los Angeles public high school taught me many things - primarily, it taught me how often people's barriers to achievement are not due to any lack of skill or ability, but rather from emotional barriers stemming from stress, adversity and trauma. So, I went back to graduate school to pursue a new career as a therapist so that I could help in a different way. My training and experience has focused on treating anxiety disorders, PTSD (including Complex-PTSD) and also couples - helping them to navigate challenges and triggers so that they can reset and reconnect.
I am a dual board-certified psychiatric mental health and family nurse practitioner providing medication management and supportive therapy for anxiety, depression, ADHD, and women’s mental health.
I have specialized training in perinatal and postpartum mood disorders through Postpartum Support International (PSI) and take a holistic, integrative approach to care.

I've been in therapy myself and have both healed and grown tremendously having worked with
therapists. Through my work with skilled therapists, I have become a more present, alive, whole-
bodied person that has learned to love myself--to be kinder to myself, less self-critical, happier,
and enjoy expressing my various forms of creativity. I'm not perfect but I continue to make shifts
when I drift into old patterns. As a result of these experiences and recommitting to shifting into
presence, self-acceptance, and whole-body awareness I feel more connected, alive and at peace. I
enjoy loving relationships with the people closest to me including my wife and children. When
not working with people, I enjoy reading biographies and adventure novels, playing board and
card games, watching live baseball games, and enjoying a variety of outdoor activities and
pursuits.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by trauma, anxiety, grief or loss? Maybe you’re carrying pain from past experiences that still show up in your body, relationships, or sense of self. You don’t have to navigate this alone. I specialize in working with adults who are processing trauma, grief, and significant life transitions. Whether you’re grieving the death of a loved one, the loss of a relationship or pet, identity, or sense of safety, therapy can be a place where your experiences are met with compassion, patience, and understanding.
It's hard to find non-judgmental therapy, especially when dealing with subjects that evoke shame. That's why I collaborate to create a therapy that meets you as you are. I hold an affirming space for marginalized orientations, neurotypes, and relationship styles. We can work to navigate major issues like trauma, sexuality and life changes, or an ongoing condition like depression or anxiety. I am also passionate about supporting people through their gender journeys. My therapy is not just inclusive, but is LGBTQ+ and neurodiversity affirming. I also enjoy working with couples or relationship groups as they navigate challenges.
My name is Yasmin. I am a trilingual, licensed psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience in the field of mental health. I have a B.A from UC Berkeley and a Masters from Columbia University. Throughout my career, I have worked in hospitals/residential, impatient and outpatient programs, and community clinics through the County Department of Mental Health. I have also directed a dual diagnosis addiction program through UCLA for several years. Aside from my therapeutic work, I have published a book of poetry and I have traveled and lived in several countries.
I provide compassionate, strengths-based therapy to support individuals navigating life’s most difficult seasons, including trauma, major life transitions, and grief. My approach centers on helping clients feel seen, supported, and empowered as they work through emotional challenges and move toward healing and resilience.
I specialize in grief and loss, adjustment to terminal illness, and anxiety. Using process-oriented and compassion-focused counseling techniques, I help clients explore their experiences at a deeper level while developing practical tools for emotional balance and self-understanding. I am also trained in Brainspotting, an evidence-based trauma therapy that supports clients in processing deep emotional pain and unresolved trauma in a safe and supportive environment.
My goal is to create a therapeutic space where clients feel understood, respected, and encouraged to grow at their own pace.
