Life presents pain and uncertainty. To learn and live by a perspective that takes you beyond ego, is to find meaning in your suffering as you sit with discomfort and take a closer look at your experience with vulnerability. Finding balance within yourself is not gained through the absence of worry and adversity-it’s discovered through a process of understanding and practicing self- acceptance and self-compassion while in the midst of life struggles. Let's explore your relationship with the negative aspects of human experience. As you look inward with honesty and without harsh judgement you can find yourself closer to your true self.
I am a board-certified adult/consult-liaison psychiatrist, who is currently practicing in NYC. Patients who enter treatment with me can expect to receive holistic and individualized care for their mental and emotional needs.
Navigating life’s challenges can feel overwhelming at times, but you don’t have to do it alone. I truly believe that vulnerability is a strength—it’s often where real growth begins. Everyone comes in with their own story, goals, and hopes, and I take that seriously. In our work together, you won’t just be “a client”—you’ll be an active part of the process. We’ll work side by side to better understand what you’re going through, build on your strengths, and move toward the life you want. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be honest with yourself, explore what’s been holding you back, and discover what’s possible when you start showing up for yourself in new ways.
I have over 30 years experience helping individuals and families through individual and group therapy dealing with caregiving, bereavement, and end of life issues. As an advocate for my clients, I help to empower them to obtain services they need. My experience includes working with developmentally disabled adults, elderly with chronic disabilities and or cognitive decline, and their spouse, partner, or family caregiver.
My goal is to provide a supportive environment as a Certified Gottman Couple's Therapist. I strive to help improve relationships while addressing struggles with anxiety, trauma, and substance abuse. Please see my website: dsingercounseling.com for more information on me. I have been working in the field of clinical social work for over 30 years. I am licensed in New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, Main, Texas and New Hampshire.
