Hi, my name is Missa. As part of the LGBTQ community, I understand firsthand the importance of an affirming space to explore your experience. Whether you're navigating the complexities of who you are, or struggling to find your place in a world that often feels unwelcoming, I am honored to walk alongside you every step of the way.
I am trained in EMDR and have experience with a variety of other modalities including CBT, ACT, and MI.
I offer telehealth services for residents of South Carolina and California, and in-person services for Charleston, SC residents.

Together, we can work toward cultivating a life of deeper self-compassion, authenticity, and lasting joy.
Hola! I'm happy that you're here looking for the support you deserve. I use an integrative approach to incorporate various therapeutic modalities to meet your unique needs. I have an extensive history of working with trauma, depression, life transitions, cultural identity issues, self esteem building and relationship issues.
I have 19 years experience working in the field of social work with many different populations. I have found that the clients that find the greatest success are those that have a desire to change and are willing to put in the work. I love seeing the amazing healing power that can come when clients overcome difficulties. Meeting with clients on their first intake assessment and then sitting with them as they work and grow on their journey towards happiness in this life is why I came into this field of Social Work.
My years of experience working with children and teens has allowed me to connect and empathize with them on a very deep level. I have 5 years working in child welfare completing interviews with children and parents, providing crisis intervention for families and teaming with community resources to develop plans to address issues that brought them to this point and how they can utilize their resources to make improvements and find joy as a family.
I’m Dr. Denise Moore, LCSW, a therapist with more than 20 years of experience walking alongside children, teens, and adults on their healing journey. I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from CSU Sacramento and completed my Doctor of Social Work at Loma Linda University. I’ve been licensed for over 18 years and have devoted my career to trauma-informed, relationship-centered care.
My practice, Root to Rise Therapy and Wellness, is built on the belief that when we understand the roots of our patterns, we can rise into healthier, more authentic ways of relating. I help clients explore attachment wounds, communication struggles, dating and relationship challenges, breakups, and self-esteem concerns. Together, we look at how early experiences shape your current relationships and sense of self, and we work toward confidence, clarity, and deeper connection.
I offer a warm, grounded, and supportive space for anyone seeking to heal old patterns, strengthen self-worth, and build relationships that feel secure, honest, and aligned.
