Hi, I’m Erica Thurlow, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and rooted in mindfulness and evidence-based practices like Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR). I specialize in working with teens and adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I have a passion for supporting neurodivergent individuals, honoring their unique wiring and building lives aligned with their values.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly 20 years working as a grip/rigging grip in the film industry. That experience gave me a deep appreciation for creativity, high-pressure environments, and the importance of meaningful human connection. I earned my M.A. in Marriage & Family Therapy from Hope International University, where I also trained as an EMDRIA-approved EMDR therapist. Whether you're seeking emotional processing, relationship repair, or making peace with your past, we'll work together in cultivating acceptance, empowerment, and change.
I have gained valuable experience working in clinical settings with school-based children, youths, and families, with an emphasis on the special education field. I also have experience working with adults and children in a residential substance abuse treatment center and have served as the Program Director in an adult residential eating disorder facility, providing therapy to clients with co-occurring disorders such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, severe mental health, grief and loss, personality disorders, and bipolar disorder.
In more recent years, I have provided outpatient care for those diagnosed with OCD and OCD-related disorders and have specialized in working with couples.
With 10 years of dedicated practice, I am deeply passionate about my work as a therapist. Whether you are navigating stress, loss, life changes, or coping with challenges that have taken a toll on you, therapy provides a nurturing environment for healing and personal growth. As a therapist, I approach each individual with an open mind, compassion, and a commitment to empowerment and holistic well-being.
I work with individuals navigating life transitions, experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, or relationship struggles. I take a client-centered, strength-based, collaborative approach to therapy. I appreciate the opportunity to see the world through the eyes of my clients. It is a privilege to be part of your journey.
